Vodafone Idea Limited (IDEA) has disclosed the receipt of orders from tax authorities under the Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017. The company received an order from the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Andheri Division, Mumbai, confirming a penalty of ₹79,56,43,907 along with applicable demand and interest. This order pertains to alleged demand on additional License Fee and Spectrum Usage Charges for FY 2018-2019. Additionally, an order was received from the Office of the Principal Commissioner of Central Goods and Services tax Commissionerate, Domlur, Bengaluru, confirming a penalty of ₹3,58,23,621 along with demand and interest. This order relates to allegations of short payment of tax and excess claim of ITC during the period FY 2018-2019 to FY 2022-2023. The total amount of penalties confirmed across both orders amounts to ₹83,14,67,528 (approximately ₹83.15 crore). Vodafone Idea Limited has stated that it does not agree with these orders and intends to take appropriate action(s) for rectification/reversal or legal action against the same. The company believes the maximum financial impact is limited to the extent of the tax demand, interest, and penalty levied.
