Shri Bhupendrabhai Patel, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Gujarat, attended the event and lauded the achievement as a realization of the Prime Minister's vision of 'Make in India' and 'Atmanirbhar Bharat'. He highlighted the significant expansion of metro networks in India under the Prime Minister's leadership.
Mr. Umesh Chowdhary, VC & MD of Titagarh Rail Systems Ltd., stated that the trainsets contain over 70-75% local content, showcasing India's indigenous manufacturing capabilities. He emphasized the company's commitment to making India a global hub for railway manufacturing.
The trainsets are constructed with stainless steel car bodies for durability and energy efficiency. They will operate on the Yellow Line corridor of the Ahmedabad Metro, connecting Narendra Modi stadium to Mahatma Mandir, and a branch of the Violet Line to GIFT City, covering a total of 28.26 km across 22 elevated stations.
Equipped with the latest Train Control and Management System for driverless operations, the trainsets prioritize passenger comfort and safety, featuring inclusive design elements for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM) and interiors inspired by Ahmedabad's Garba theme.
The Chief Minister also toured the plant, acknowledging the importance of scale and speed in manufacturing and noting Titagarh's facilities for building Vande Bharat trains. Future expansion plans, including high-speed train manufacturing capabilities, were presented by Sri Umesh Chowdhary.
