Timken India Limited: Appeal Against Consumer Commission Order Disposed Off
December 17, 2025, 10:52 AM
Timken India Limited has provided an update on an appeal filed against an order passed by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Shimla. This appeal was filed in relation to a matter concerning Mr. Ravi Shankar Sood and Timken India Limited, along with CB Management Services Private Limited.
Previously, Mr. Ravi Shankar Sood had applied for the transmission of shares in 2020-21, which were held by his deceased father. The Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA), CB Management Services Private Limited, requested certain documents as per SEBI Guidelines, which were claimed by Mr. Sood to have been provided. The RTA, however, stated that requisite documents were not received, preventing the transmission.
Mr. Sood had filed a complaint before the District Commission alleging deficiency in service by the RTA and the Company for not processing the share transmission. The District Commission had directed Mr. Sood to provide necessary documents and ordered the RTA/Company to complete the transmission within 60 days of receiving all documents and formalities. Additionally, the District Commission had awarded ₹15,000 as compensation and ₹10,000 as litigation costs to Mr. Sood.
The Company and the RTA appealed this order before the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Himachal Pradesh. During the pendency of this appeal, the parties reached a settlement. Consequently, the appeal has been disposed of with the consent of both parties, and no costs or compensation are payable by the Company. The e-copy of the order from the State Commission was received on 16 December 2025. The impact on the financial, operational, or other activities of the Company is nil, as the Company and RTA are not required to pay the awarded compensation and litigation costs.
