Tata Chemicals Limited has announced a significant investment of ₹515 crore to establish a new greenfield manufacturing facility for Iodised Vacuum Salt Dried (IVSD) at Valinokkam, Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu. This facility will have an installed capacity of 210 Kilo Tonnes Per Annum (KTPA). The project is expected to be completed within 36 months and will be funded through internal accruals and/or external financing. This expansion aims to strengthen the company's capacity and supply chain, creating a second major IVSD manufacturing site to diversify its production base and improve regional supply capabilities, complementing the existing 1.6 million tonnes per annum capacity at Mithapur, Gujarat. The strategic rationale behind this investment includes enhancing supply chain efficiency, optimizing logistics costs by locating production closer to key southern markets, reducing transit time, and improving overall operational efficiency for the salt business. This move aligns with Tata Chemicals' strategy to strengthen core businesses, invest in long-term growth, build resilient manufacturing infrastructure, improve cost competitiveness, and support sustained demand across geographies, while also contributing to regional industrial development.
