Tamilnad Mercantile Bank Limited (TMB) has announced the appointment of Thiru. John J Mathews as the Chief Security Officer of the bank. This appointment is effective from January 19, 2026, and he will serve on a contractual basis for a period of three years.

Thiru. John J Mathews brings a wealth of experience with over 37 years in the Indian Army, where he retired as a Major General. He holds academic qualifications including B.Sc., B.Tech, M.Sc., and M.Phil. His extensive career includes various leadership roles such as commanding an Armored Division, Armored Brigade, and a mechanized infantry battalion. He has also held significant staff positions, including Principal Staff Officer overseeing Western Borders and 13 states, Military Secretary to a Senior Officer, and a Director-level position at Army HQ. Furthermore, he has contributed to military education as an Instructor at the National Defence Academy, Khadakvasla, Directing Staff at the Defence Services Staff College, and Senior Instructor at the Army War College, Mhow.

The bank has provided the requisite disclosures as per Regulation 30 read with Schedule III of the SEBI (Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements) Regulations, 2015, and relevant SEBI circulars. There are no disclosed relationships between Thiru. John J Mathews and any directors of the bank.
