The South Indian Bank Limited announced the appointment of Sri. Jose Joseph Kattoor as the Non-Executive Part-Time Chairman (Independent Director) of the Bank. The Reserve Bank of India conveyed its approval for this appointment on February 3, 2026. Sri. Kattoor will serve a term of three years, commencing from March 23, 2026, in accordance with Section 10B(1A) of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949. He succeeds Sri. V J Kurian, who is retiring from his position as Non-Executive Part-Time Chairman (Independent Director) on March 22, 2026, upon completion of his tenure. Sri. Jose Joseph Kattoor (DIN: 09213852), aged 62, brings over three decades of extensive experience from his tenure at the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), where he retired as Executive Director in June 2023. His responsibilities at RBI included overseeing departments such as Enforcement, Corporate Strategy, Currency, and Human Resources. He holds a B.Sc, PGDRM (IRMA), LLB, CAIIB, and AMP from Wharton. Sri. Kattoor has been serving as an Independent Director of the Bank since July 18, 2024. He is not related to any other Directors of the Bank and is not debarred from holding a directorship by any regulatory authority.
