SJVN Limited has announced the successful achievement of the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for its 70 MW Dhubri Solar Power Project located in Assam. This project, executed by its wholly-owned subsidiary SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), marks a significant step in SJVN's renewable energy expansion. The solar project was developed on 330 acres of land at a cost of ₹367.44 crore. It is projected to generate 141.13 million units of electricity in its first year and an estimated 3,230 million units over 25 years. The power generated will be supplied to Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) at a usage charge of ₹3.92 per unit. This project, whose foundation stone was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 4, 2024, is the first large-scale solar project in Assam and SJVN's first operational project in the North Eastern Region. Its commissioning contributes to the Government of India's target of 500 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030 and is expected to reduce approximately 1,58,270 tonnes of carbon emissions, while also creating direct and indirect employment opportunities and boosting the local economy.
