SJVN Limited announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, SJVN Green Energy Limited (SGEL), has achieved the Commercial Operation Date (COD) for the 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan. This significant milestone project, located in the Bikaner district, is spread across 5,000 acres of purchased land. It is anticipated to generate 2,454.55 million units of electricity in its first year and approximately 56,838 million units cumulatively over 25 years. The usage charges are capped at ₹2.57 per unit, aiming to provide affordable green power. The project was developed at a cost of ₹5,492 crore under the Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) mode, utilizing domestically manufactured solar photovoltaic cells and modules, aligning with the 'Make in India' initiative. The commissioning of this project is expected to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 27,85,077 tonnes and contributes towards the Government of India's target of 500 GW renewable energy capacity by 2030.
