Simbhaoli Sugars Limited has provided an update to the BSE regarding a query about the delayed announcement of the resumption of operations at its Brijnathpur, Uttar Pradesh unit. The company explained that the 8 MW turbine, which had broken down, was repaired and became operational on January 24, 2026. However, the announcement was made on January 29, 2026, due to unavoidable operational and technical considerations. The company clarified that after initial repair, the turbine operated at a partial load. The sugar manufacturing process, involving a 72-hour crystallization cycle from cane crushing to sugar production, meant that accurate assessment of operational outcomes could only be made after this cycle's completion. During this period, the turbine was under continuous observation and performance testing to ensure smooth functioning and prevent recurrence of breakdown. On January 28, 2026, engineers confirmed stable operations at intended capacity, leading to the corporate announcement the following day. The actual amount of damage caused by the breakdown was ₹55.76 Lakh, covering the repair of the turbine and accessories, power, fuel, and other related expenses. The breakdown was not covered under insurance. Steps taken to restore normalcy included inspection to identify the cause, necessary repairs and replacement of faulty components by the technical team, and successful testing and trial runs before restarting normal operations.
