Seshasayee Paper and Boards Limited has received a favorable order from the Commissioner (Appeals) regarding a tax demand. Previously, The Additional Commissioner, Salem CGST Commissionerate had raised a demand of ₹712.24 lakhs along with applicable interest and a penalty of ₹100.93 lakhs, alleging short payment of GST under RCM and excess claim of Input Tax Credit during the financial years 2017-18 until 2021-22. The company had filed an appeal against this order. The Commissioner (Appeals), in a recent order, has ruled significantly in favor of Seshasayee Paper, reducing the total demand to ₹16.00 lakhs with applicable interest and a penalty of ₹1.06 lakhs, totaling ₹17.06 lakhs. The order is yet to be uploaded to the GST Portal due to technical challenges, and this disclosure is based on the physical copy received.
