Prism Johnson Limited has provided an update regarding a Service Tax / Excise Duty demand of ₹34.10 Crores, including a penalty of ₹26.40 Crores, raised by the Commissioner CGST & Central Excise, Jabalpur. The Customs, Excise & Service Tax Appellate Tribunal (CESTAT), in an order dated January 10, 2025, had set aside the demand to the extent it was time-barred and also dismissed the penalty imposed on the company and its employees. The Commissioner CGST & Central Excise, Jabalpur, has appealed this CESTAT order. The appeal was filed with the Hon’ble High Court of Madhya Pradesh on July 21, 2025. The High Court has admitted the appeal, and a notice of appeal dated January 12, 2026, was served to the company on January 23, 2026. The hearing for this appeal is scheduled for February 23, 2026. The company expresses optimism for a favorable outcome and does not anticipate any material financial impact from this litigation.
