Power Mech Projects Limited announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, PM Green Private Limited, has secured a significant contract for a 1 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL).

The project, structured under a Build, Own, Operate (BOO) model with a 100% off-take guarantee from WBSEDCL, involves the design, finance, engineering, procurement, construction, operation, and maintenance of the BESS facility at the Goaltore Substation. The initial capacity is 250 MW / 1,000 MWh, with an additional greenshoe option for another 250 MW / 1,000 MWh to be established at Durgapur Project Limited Campus.

The total revenue generation from this contract is estimated at ₹3,126 Crores, including the greenshoe capacity. The construction period is slated for 18 months from the signing of the Battery Energy Storage Purchase Agreement (BESPA), and the contract duration is 15 years, with a provision for extension up to 5 years from the scheduled commissioning date.

Mr. Sajja Kishore Babu, Chairman and Managing Director, commented that this BESS project is a crucial step in the company's vision to provide equilibrium in the transition to green energy, balancing reliability with the increasing share of renewable energy in India's installed capacity. He highlighted that this award, as a debut in energy storage solutions, demonstrates the company's capability to handle large and complex projects.
