Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has been declared the successful bidder for establishing an Inter-State Transmission System under the Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism. The project, named “Transmission system strengthening for integration of additional RE potential at Davanagere (0.25 GW) and Bellary (2.75 GW)”, will be developed on a Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer (BOOT) basis.

The Letter of Intent (LoI) for this project was received by POWERGRID on January 8, 2026, with the LoI dated January 7, 2026.

The scope of the project includes the development of a 400 kV Double Circuit Transmission Line traversing the state of Karnataka. Additionally, it involves associated line bays at both ends and augmentation works, including the installation of Instrument Current Transformers (ICTs) and line bays at the Davangere and Bellary Pooling Stations.
