Piramal Pharma Limited (PPL) has received a closure direction notice dated 3rd February, 2026, from the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) for its plant located in Dahej, Gujarat. The notice directs the closure of operations within 48 hours from receipt, citing alleged violations under Section 33-A of the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974. GPCB has also mandated the submission of a bank guarantee of ₹15,00,000 with a one-year validity. The company stated that the financial and operational impact of this directive is currently unascertainable. PPL believes the alleged violations are unsubstantiated and is preparing to file an urgent Writ Petition with the Gujarat High Court seeking expedited intervention to reverse the GPCB's directions. The company reaffirmed its commitment to upholding high environmental compliance standards.
