Ola Electric Mobility Limited has announced that it has secured the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification and license for its Ola शक्ति residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in a 6kW/9.1 kWh battery pack configuration, utilizing 4680 Bharat Cells. This marks the first residential BESS solution designed, engineered, and manufactured in India to receive this certification. The BIS license conforms to IS 16242 (PART1): 2025/ IEC 62040-1: 2017 standards.

The certification process involved comprehensive electrical and mechanical safety-critical tests, including short-circuit and overload protection, fire and thermal hazard safeguards, protection from electric shock, environmental stress testing, sonic pressure hazard evaluation, and mechanical hazard assessment.

Ola Electric stated that the BIS certification of शक्ति 9.1kWh makes them ready to commence deliveries of their first residential BESS units. This is seen as a significant step towards reimagining energy storage and consumption in India, aiming to provide dependable, affordable, and smart energy storage for homes, farms, and businesses, contributing to India's energy self-reliance.

The Ola शक्ति system offers automotive-grade safety, high efficiency, and zero running and maintenance costs. It features an instant 0 ms changeover time, operates within a wide input voltage range of 170V -270V to protect appliances, and is spill-proof with IP67-rated batteries tested for dust and water resistance.

Ola शक्ति is available in two configurations: 3kW/5.2kWh priced at ₹1,49,999 and 6kW/9.1kWh priced at ₹2,49,999. These systems can power appliances such as air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers, farm pumps, and communication equipment, offering fast charging and backup capacity of up to 1.5 hours on full load.

Deliveries for the Ola शक्ति 9.1 kWh are scheduled to begin at the end of January 2026, with deliveries for the 5.2 kWh version commencing in mid-February 2026. The product is available for purchase on the Ola Electric website and at Ola Electric stores.
