Ola Electric Mobility Limited has announced the commencement of deliveries for its Ola Shakti 9.1kWh, India's first residential Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) powered by 4680 Bharat Cells. Deliveries for the 6kW/9.1kWh configuration began on February 1, 2026, in Bengaluru, with plans for nationwide expansion. Furthermore, Ola Electric has secured Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for the 3kW/5.2kWh configuration of Ola Shakti. This follows the earlier BIS certification for the 6kW/9.1kWh variant on January 15, 2026. The company is now officially certified to manufacture and sell both versions across India. The 3kW/5.2kWh variant successfully underwent mandatory BIS certification, adhering to safety and environmental standards outlined in IS 16242 (PART1): 2025 / IEC 62040 -1: 2017. This included rigorous evaluations for short-circuit protection, overload protection, electric shock protection, environmental hazard protection, fire and thermal hazard protection, ingress protection, sonic pressure hazard protection, and wiring safety. An Ola Electric spokesperson stated, “With deliveries of Ola Shakti 9.1kWh now commencing, we are taking a significant step forward in bringing dependable and smart energy storage to Indian homes, farms, and businesses. Ola Shakti is more than a product - it is a cornerstone of India’s journey toward energy self-reliance and a future driven by clean, decentralized, and on-demand power.” Ola Shakti is designed as a modern alternative to conventional lead-acid inverters and diesel generators, offering automotive-grade safety, high-efficiency performance, and zero running/maintenance costs. It provides instant 0 ms changeover time, operates within a wide input voltage range (170V-270V), and features IP67-rated, spill-proof batteries tested for harsh conditions. The Ola Shakti system is available in two configurations: 3kW/5.2kWh priced at ₹1,49,999 and 6kW/9.1kWh priced at ₹2,49,999. It can power appliances like air conditioners, refrigerators, induction cookers, and farm pumps, offering fast charging and up to 1.5 hours of backup on full load.
