Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) has been directed by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to pay a financial disincentive of ₹11,00,000 (Rupees Eleven Lakhs only). This penalty is for failing to submit a Compliance Report and for contravening the provisions of the Standards of Quality of Service of Access (Wireline and Wireless) and Broadband (Wireline and Wireless) Service Regulations, 2024, specifically for the month of April 2025. The penalty includes ₹10,00,000 for the non-submission of the Performance Monitoring Report (PMR) for Delhi LSA, and ₹1,00,000 for failing to publish service-wise geospatial coverage maps on its website for the Mumbai LSA. TRAI noted that MTNL did not provide satisfactory explanations for these failures. The order, dated January 23, 2026, was received by MTNL on January 27, 2026. The company is required to pay the fine within twenty-one days of the order's issue, failing which interest will be levied.
