Motherson Electronic Components Private Limited (MECPL), a subsidiary of Samvardhana Motherson International Limited (SAMIL), has been approved as a beneficiary under the Government of India’s Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS). This scheme, announced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), supports the production of enclosures for the consumer electronics industry. The incentives are valid for six years, from FY26 to FY31, and are expected to drive a cumulative investment of ₹1,900 crores. MECPL anticipates creating over 5,000 employment opportunities at its plant in Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu, during this period. This development aligns with Motherson's commitment to strengthening domestic manufacturing under the "Make in India" initiative. As a global design, engineering, manufacturing, and assembly specialist, Motherson plays a key role in building resilient value chains for the automotive, aerospace, and consumer electronics industries in India. The company's inclusion in ECMS highlights its capabilities in scaling operations in high-value segments.
