Maruti Suzuki India Limited has introduced an innovative swivel seat option for its WagonR model, aiming to promote inclusive mobility for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. This initiative, inspired by the Suzuki Group's slogan 'By Your Side', aligns with the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 10 to reduce inequality. The swivel seat is designed to offer greater convenience, enabling easier ingress and egress. It can be ordered as a retro-fitment kit at Maruti Suzuki Arena dealerships and can be installed in new WagonR models or retrofitted into existing vehicles manufactured after 2019. The pilot project has been launched in 11 cities across more than 200 Arena dealerships. The company plans to expand the availability of this feature based on customer response. The WagonR was chosen for its spacious interior, offering ample headroom and legroom. Mr. Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, stated that the swivel seat will make daily travel more convenient and reflects the company's vision of inclusive mobility. Naina Padaki, Founder of TRUEAssist Technology Private Limited, expressed pleasure in collaborating with Maruti Suzuki to bring this assistive mobility solution to a wider audience. The swivel seat kit has undergone safety tests at the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) and complies with required safety standards. The installation does not require modification of the car's structure or core functioning and comes with a 3-year warranty provided by TRUEAssist Technology Private Limited.
