Larsen & Toubro Limited's (L&T) Transportation Infrastructure business vertical has secured a significant order for the construction of an arterial Cable-Stayed Bridge over the Muri Ganga River in the South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.

The project scope includes the construction of a 3.2 km Extradosed Cable-Stayed Bridge with a 2+2 lane configuration and a maximum span of 177m. Additionally, L&T will build a 0.9 km approach road on the Kakdwip Side and a 0.65 km approach road on the Sagar Island side. The bridge will feature Advanced Traffic Management Systems, a Bridge Health Monitoring System, Architectural Bridge Lighting, and Hybrid Street Lighting, along with all essential road furniture.

This bridge is expected to provide direct, all-weather connectivity to Sagar Island, currently reliant on ferry services susceptible to disruptions. It is anticipated to benefit over two lakh residents by improving mobility, healthcare access, and economic prospects, while also boosting pilgrimage by ensuring safe and convenient travel for millions of devotees to the annual Ganga Sagar Mela. Furthermore, the project is poised to drive substantial economic growth through increased trade, tourism, and local business development.

L&T classifies 'Significant' orders as those valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore.
