Laxmi Organic Industries Limited (LOIL) has issued a clarification regarding recent media reports concerning its manufacturing facility in Lote Parshuram MIDC, Chiplun, Maharashtra. The company affirmed that its Lote facility operates in full compliance with all applicable Indian environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements and has secured all necessary statutory approvals since its inception. The company stated that all process emissions and effluents are scientifically treated and appropriately disposed of at a State Government-approved facility, confirming no discharge of hazardous effluents into the environment from the Lote plant. Laxmi Organic categorically refuted comparisons between its Lote operations and those of the former Italian company Miteni S.p.A., labeling such reports as inaccurate and misleading. It highlighted that the Miteni incident involved decades of direct wastewater discharge into rivers, a practice not permissible under India's stringent regulatory framework. Laxmi Organic emphasized that its Lote facility utilizes closed-loop systems to prevent the release of harmful substances. Hazardous waste and effluents are sent to a State Government-approved common hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facility for scientific disposal, including incineration. The company adheres to standardized procedures for hazardous waste management with full digital traceability, supported by advanced safety systems, robust effluent treatment infrastructure, containment measures, and impervious flooring, ensuring strict regulatory compliance and preventing environmental harm. The Lote site is described as a multi-technology and multi-product facility, producing both fluorinated and non-fluorinated products essential for industries such as semiconductors, defense, electric vehicles, medical devices, agrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals. The company also stressed that fluorinated products are produced responsibly in India and globally at scale.
