HCL Infosystems Limited has received a Demand Order from the Assistant Commissioner, Central Goods & Services Tax, Chennai, for the financial year 2018-19. The order, dated 24 December 2025 and received on 26 December 2025, pertains to allegations of generating multiple E-Waybills using the same invoices, resulting in a short payment of tax. Vide this order, a tax demand of ₹0.32 crore has been confirmed against the company. Additionally, interest has been levied under Section 50 of the CGST Act, 2017, and an equivalent penalty of ₹0.32 crore has been imposed under Section 74 of the CGST Act, 2017. The total confirmed demand, including penalty, amounts to ₹0.64 crore. The company, however, believes the demand is not sustainable, as it has discharged its applicable tax liabilities and possesses strong grounds on merits, legal, and procedural aspects. HCL Infosystems is currently examining its options for appropriate legal remedies and does not anticipate any material adverse impact on its financial position or operations at this stage.
