Godavari Biorefineries Limited (GBL) has announced a strategic partnership with Synthomer to develop bio-based alternatives for existing fossil-based monomers. This collaboration aims to meet the growing customer demand for sustainable options and reduce carbon footprints. Through this agreement, Synthomer will commercialize bio-based butyl acrylate, utilizing bio-based butanol produced by GBL. This initiative is expected to accelerate the industry's shift towards more sustainable raw materials. Samir Somaiya, Chairman and Managing Director of GBL, stated that sustainability is central to the company's business strategy and innovation. He emphasized the partnership's role in advancing bio-based alternatives and enabling significant carbon footprint reductions across the value chain. Chris Brown, Vice President of ESG at Synthomer, commented that the partnership allows them to offer customers a lower-carbon alternative, assisting them in meeting emission targets and catering to the increasing demand for sustainable solutions. This also enhances the resilience of Synthomer's monomer portfolio.
