General Insurance Corporation of India (GICRE) has announced the extension of financial and administrative powers for Shri Hitesh Ramesh Chandra Joshi, who has been acting as Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD). This extension, approved by the Government of India, Ministry of Finance, Department of Financial Services, is effective from January 1, 2026. The powers will continue for a further period of three months, or until a regular CMD is appointed, or until further orders, whichever is earliest. This follows an earlier entrustment of powers on October 1, 2025, for a period of three months. Shri Hitesh Ramesh Chandra Joshi holds a postgraduate degree in Accountancy from Mumbai University and a master’s degree in Financial Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. He is also a Fellow of the Insurance Institute of India. His career at GICRE spans various key functions including reinsurance, retrocession, finance, internal audit, and investor relations. In his current role as Executive Director, he oversees International Business Operations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Office Services, Business Intelligence, and Actuarial functions.
