The Great Eastern Shipping Company Limited (G E Shipping) has entered into a contract to acquire a secondhand Very Large Gas Carrier with a capacity of approximately 84,048 cbm, effective December 19, 2025. This vessel, built in South Korea in 2015, is anticipated to become part of the company's fleet during the fourth quarter of the fiscal year 2026 (Q4 FY26).
The acquisition will be funded entirely through the company's internal resources, aligning with its strategy for fleet expansion. This move comes as G E Shipping's current fleet consists of 40 vessels, including 26 tankers (comprising 6 Crude Carriers, 16 Product Tankers, and 4 LPG carriers) and 14 Dry Bulk Carriers, with an aggregate capacity of 3.32 million deadweight tons (Mn dwt). The company is currently operating at nearly 100% capacity utilization.
In addition to this acquisition, G E Shipping has also contracted to purchase another secondhand Ultramax Dry Bulk Carrier and sell its Kamsarmax Dry Bulk Carrier, "Jag Aarati". Both of these transactions are projected to conclude in Q4 FY26. Furthermore, the company has agreed to sell its Suezmax Crude Tanker, "Jag Lok", with this transaction expected to be completed in Q3 FY26.
