Genesys International Corporation Limited announced that its implementation of the Varanasi Smart City 3D Digital Twin has been awarded the SKOCH Award (Gold) 2025 in the Urban Development category. This prestigious award recognizes the design, development, and deployment of the 3D Urban Spatial Model, evaluated under the e-Governance stream.

The SKOCH Award is a rigorous, multi-stage process involving expert jury evaluations and assessment of governance impact. Genesys' project in Varanasi aimed to create a city-scale digital foundation for daily municipal operations, going beyond mere visualization. The implementation included a high-fidelity 3D urban spatial foundation organized into decision-ready layers to enhance planning, monitoring, and inter-departmental coordination.

The project encompassed end-to-end planning, ground control establishment for positional accuracy, and comprehensive data acquisition using manned aerial surveys with LiDAR and optical imagery, complemented by terrestrial mobile LiDAR and 360-degree street-level panoramic imagery. This data was used to produce detailed 2D and 3D base maps, high-precision elevation models, a 3D reality mesh, and a unified spatial database.

Sajid Malik, Chairman and Managing Director of Genesys International Corporation Ltd., stated that the award validates the synergy between high-accuracy city data and practical municipal workflows. He highlighted Genesys' role in implementing the entire digital twin foundation and translating it into usable applications for planning, monitoring, and response.

The Digital Twin solution supports various municipal use cases, including urban planning, asset management, project execution, public safety, emergency response, and flood/resilience planning. It also integrates governance modules for crowd management, solid waste management, road and water works management, flood management, and crime control, with monitoring through dashboards. The solution is deployed at the Kashi Integrated Command and Control Centre (KICCC).
