December 19, 2025, 07:16 PM
Fortis Healthcare Limited announced its plan to invest approximately ₹840 crore to expand its healthcare facilities in Bengaluru. This strategic move includes the acquisition of People Tree Hospital in Yeshwanthpur for ₹430 crore, along with its building and adjacent land.
The acquisition, to be undertaken by Fortis' wholly-owned subsidiary International Hospital Limited, involves acquiring 100% of TMI Healthcare Private Limited, the entity operating People Tree Hospital. The cumulative transaction value of ₹430 crore includes the hospital, land, and debt residing with TMI Healthcare. People Tree Hospital is a 125-bedded multi-specialty facility located in a well-connected area of North-West Bengaluru, offering services in Cardiac Sciences, Orthopedics, Neuro Sciences, Renal Sciences, and Gastroenterology.
Fortis plans to further invest an additional ₹410 crore over the next three years to scale up the hospital's infrastructure to over 300 beds. This investment will augment bed capacity, medical equipment, and clinical programs, including Radiation Oncology. The company anticipates strengthening existing operations, enhancing revenues, and profitability, with current hospital revenues at approximately ₹74 crore (FY25).
The transaction is expected to be completed by the end of January 2026, subject to closing conditions. Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, MD & CEO of Fortis Healthcare, stated that this acquisition aligns with the company's vision to expand its footprint in focused clusters and leverage scale and synergies, reinforcing its position in Bengaluru where it aims to scale up to over 1500 beds across seven facilities from the current 900 beds.
Dr. Jothi Neeraja, Founder, MD & CEO of People Tree Hospitals, expressed that the transition to Fortis Healthcare marks a pivotal milestone, ensuring continuity, modernization, and long-term benefits for patients and employees, while upholding founding values of ethical, patient-centric care.
