Brainbees Solutions Limited (FirstCry) has received an order from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs (Adjudication), Mumbai, dated January 13, 2026, which was received by the company on January 14, 2026. This order disposes of an earlier show cause notice issued to the company regarding alleged violation of concessional Basic Customs Duty exemption availed under the APTA Notification No. 50/2018.

The Adjudicating Authority has demanded a differential duty amounting to ₹6,56,58,134, along with a redemption fine and penalty. This demand comprises ₹2,13,29,067 as differential duty, a redemption fine of ₹1,15,00,000, a penalty of ₹2,13,29,067, and another penalty of ₹1,15,00,000. These are in connection with alleged failure to comply with the procedural aspects of documentation relating to the country of origin of imported goods under the Asia-Pacific Trade Agreement (APTA) framework.

The company believes it has a strong case on merits and is seeking legal advice to file an appeal against the order. FirstCry emphasizes its commitment to high standards of integrity, corporate governance, and compliance, including prompt payment of taxes. The company stated that, except for the amounts demanded, there is no material impact on its financial, operations, or other activities due to this action.
