Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) has commissioned a 150 kW Solar Rooftop Plant at its Head Office in Visakhapatnam, marking a significant stride towards sustainable energy adoption. The plant, formally commissioned by the Managing Director & CEO, Captain S. Divakar, was implemented under the Government of India's PM Surya Ghar Yojana. The project is expected to generate approximately 750 units of clean energy daily, leading to an estimated monthly saving of nearly ₹2.5 lakhs and an annual saving of approximately ₹30 lakhs. This initiative will also contribute to environmental benefits by avoiding an estimated 220-240 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually. The project aligns with the guidelines of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, with NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Limited as the implementation partner and executed by Ledure Lightings Limited. The project was previously inaugurated by the Hon'ble Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, on March 29, 2026, during DCIL's Golden Jubilee celebrations. Captain S. Divakar stated that the commissioning of the solar plant reflects DCIL's forward-looking vision and its alignment with national priorities on renewable energy, while also delivering tangible financial and environmental benefits. DCIL plans to continue pursuing similar initiatives to promote sustainability and enhance energy efficiency.
