In a significant development, the appeals filed by MAL for Assessment Years 2016-17 to 2018-19 have been allowed. The Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals), Mumbai, vide orders dated January 13, 2026, and January 14, 2026, has dropped a total penalty of ₹382.81 Crores. However, the appeal for Assessment Year 2015-16, amounting to ₹96.03 Crores, is still pending for disposal.
