Cochin Shipyard Limited has announced the extension of tenure for its Chairman & Managing Director, Shri Madhu Sankunny Nair. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, has approved this extension.

Shri Madhu Sankunny Nair will continue to serve as the Chairman & Managing Director until his superannuation on January 31, 2026. His previous tenure as CMD was from January 1, 2016, to December 31, 2020, followed by an extension from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2025.

Shri Madhu Sankunny Nair holds a Bachelor of Technology in Naval Architecture and Ship Building from Cochin University of Science & Technology and a Master's in Engineering (Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering) from Osaka University, Japan. He possesses over 37 years of experience in shipyard management. During his leadership, Cochin Shipyard became a listed company and was upgraded to a ‘Schedule A’ CPSE. The company also expanded its operations to seven units across India and he is credited with transforming CSL into a knowledge organization.
