Carborundum Universal Limited announced the appointment of Ambassador D B Venkatesh Varma as an Additional Director in the capacity of an Independent Director. This appointment was approved by the Board of Directors during their meeting held on March 4, 2026. Ambassador Varma's tenure as an Independent Director will be for a term of five years, commencing from March 4, 2026. His appointment will be subject to the approval of the company's shareholders, in accordance with regulatory requirements. The Nomination and Remuneration Committee had previously reviewed and recommended Ambassador Varma's appointment prior to the Board meeting. The company has confirmed that Ambassador Varma is not debarred from holding the office of director by any order from SEBI or any other regulatory authority. Ambassador Varma, aged 64, brings extensive experience from his career in the Indian Foreign Service (1988-2021), having served in key roles within the Ministry of External Affairs, the Office of the External Affairs Minister, and the Prime Minister’s Office. He has also served as India’s Ambassador to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, the Kingdom of Spain, and the Russian Federation, with significant expertise in India’s security and defense policies. The Board meeting commenced at 09:00 a.m. and concluded at 09:30 a.m. on March 4, 2026.
