Bharti Airtel Limited has received two notices from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) imposing penalties for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms. The first notice, received on December 30, 2025, from the Bihar DoT, imposes a penalty of ₹2,46,000 for alleged violation of subscriber verification norms during a sample Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit for September 2025. The company stated that it does not agree with the notice and will take appropriate action for rectification or reversal. The second notice, also received on December 30, 2025, from the Madhya Pradesh DoT, imposes a penalty of ₹1,16,000 for alleged violation of subscriber verification norms during a sample CAF Audit for October 2025. In this case, Bharti Airtel has opted not to contest and will pay the penalty. Both penalties stem from alleged non-compliance with the license agreement, which requires adequate verification of customers before enrolling them as subscribers. The DoT conducts periodic CAF Audits to confirm adherence to these licensing terms and conditions. The financial impact for both notices is limited to the extent of the penalties levied.
