Bharti Airtel Limited has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) imposing a penalty of ₹2,06,000 for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms. The notice, received on January 19, 2026, at 16:47 IST, stems from a sample Customer Application Form (CAF) Audit conducted by the DoT for November 2025.

The DoT's audit aimed to ensure compliance with license agreement terms, which require adequate customer verification before enrollment. Bharti Airtel has opted not to contest the penalty and will proceed with its payment. The company stated that the maximum financial impact is limited to the penalty levied.
