Bharti Airtel Limited has received a notice from the Department of Telecommunications, Uttar Pradesh (East) LSA, imposing a penalty of ₹1,20,000 for alleged violations of subscriber verification norms.

The notice was received on January 12, 2026, at 17:35 IST. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) conducts periodic Customer Application Form (CAF) audits to ensure compliance with the license agreement, which mandates adequate verification of customers before enrollment.

According to the announcement, a sample CAF Audit for September 2025 revealed alleged violations of subscriber verification norms. The maximum financial impact is limited to the penalty levied. Bharti Airtel has decided not to contest the penalty and will proceed with its payment.
