Bharti Airtel Limited has announced significant changes in its Board of Directors and management, approved by its Board at a meeting held on December 18, 2025, based on the recommendations of the HR & Nomination Committee. These changes will be effective from January 01, 2026, and are subject to shareholder approval. Gopal Vittal, currently the Vice Chairman & Managing Director, will transition to the role of Executive Vice Chairman (as Whole-time Director) for a period of five years. In this capacity, he will oversee Bharti Airtel and its subsidiaries, focusing on group synergies in digital and technology, network strategy, procurement, talent, group strategy, and future-proofing the organization. Shashwat Sharma, currently the CEO Designate, will assume the position of Managing Director & CEO (Airtel India) and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) for five years. He will report to Gopal Vittal and has been working closely with him to prepare for this transition. Soumen Ray, the current Chief Financial Officer, will be appointed as Group Chief Financial Officer. Akhil Garg, the current Financial Controller, will take over as Chief Financial Officer (Airtel India) and KMP. Both appointments are effective January 01, 2026. Rohit Krishan Puri, currently Joint Company Secretary & Compliance Officer, will become the Company Secretary & Compliance Officer. Pankaj Tewari will continue to provide leadership and oversight as Group Company Secretary. The board meeting commenced at IST 16:45 Hrs and concluded at IST 17:45 Hrs.
