Bharti Airtel Limited has announced significant changes in its board of directors and management, effective January 1, 2026. The Board of Directors, based on recommendations from the HR & Nomination Committee, approved the following appointments during its meeting held on December 18, 2025. Gopal Vittal, currently the Vice Chairman & Managing Director, will transition to the role of Executive Vice Chairman (as Whole-time Director) for a period of five years, subject to shareholder approval. In this expanded role, Gopal will oversee Bharti Airtel and all its subsidiaries, focusing on group synergies in digital and technology, network strategy, procurement, and talent, as well as group strategy and future-proofing the organization. Shashwat Sharma, currently CEO Designate, will take over as Managing Director & CEO (Airtel India) and Key Managerial Personnel (KMP) for a five-year term, also subject to shareholder approval. Shashwat will report to Gopal and has been working closely with him to ensure a smooth transition. Soumen Ray, the current Chief Financial Officer for Bharti Airtel India, will be appointed as Group Chief Financial Officer, reporting to Gopal. Akhil Garg, previously Financial Controller, will assume the role of Chief Financial Officer (Airtel India) and KMP, reporting to Shashwat and Soumen. Rohit Krishan Puri, currently Joint Company Secretary & Compliance Officer, will become the Company Secretary & Compliance Officer, while Pankaj Tewari will continue to lead and oversee at the group level as Group Company Secretary.
