Ather Energy, a leading Indian electric two-wheeler manufacturer, announced its strategic move into the auto insurance services sector by establishing a wholly-owned subsidiary. This new entity will operate as a Corporate Agent, aiming to offer auto insurance policies in partnership with multiple insurers to its customers nationwide. The initiative is designed to streamline Ather's insurance offerings, enhance customer experience, and create a recurring revenue stream by leveraging its existing customer base. By managing distribution in-house, Ather plans to innovate EV-specific insurance products, simplify renewals, and potentially improve policy attachment rates. Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, stated that insurance is a critical part of the ownership journey and can be made simpler and more predictable for customers. Bringing insurance distribution closer to the Ather ecosystem will offer a more transparent experience aligned with customer vehicle usage. This move also enables the development of insurance products tailored to real EV usage. This venture is considered a natural extension for Ather, requiring limited investment and expected to deliver steady, incremental revenue. It aligns with Ather's broader strategy to build a comprehensive ecosystem around its electric two-wheelers, which includes vehicles, charging infrastructure, servicing, accessories, and software.
