Aditya Infotech Limited has received an Order-In-Original (O-I-O) from the Office of the Commissioner of Customs Chennai -II (Imports) dated January 13, 2026. The order, received by the company on January 14, 2026, imposes a demand for differential custom duty amounting to ₹10,32,87,833/-, along with a penalty of equal amount under section 114A. Additionally, a redemption fine of ₹4,00,00,000/-, an additional penalty of ₹4,00,00,000/- under section 114AA, and a penalty of ₹2,20,00,000/- on the company's personnel and CHA under section 112(a) of the Customs Act, 1962, have been levied. This aggregate demand of ₹30,85,75,666/- (excluding interest) stems from allegations of incorrect availment of concessions under Customs Exemption Notification No. 57/2017 and No. 24/2005 on the import of 4G routers. The department contends that these items are "Devices for assessing cellular Internet using 4G LTE" and should be assessed under CTI 8517 6290 with a Basic Customs Duty (BCD) of 20% plus 10% SWS and 18% IGST, rather than being cleared with NIL Duty + 18% IGST as done by the company. The company had previously deposited ₹6 crore against potential duty liability before the order was issued. The company believes the levied duty and penalties are exempted under the Customs Act, 1962, and intends to file an appeal against the order. Apart from the amount to be paid, Aditya Infotech Limited states that there is no material impact on the company's financials, operations, or other activities.
