The certification validates KCL's manufacturing excellence and responsible sourcing practices against stringent global benchmarks, further cementing its position as a globally competitive producer of refined copper. Dr. Vinay Prakash, CEO – Natural Resources, Adani Enterprises, and Managing Director of Kutch Copper Limited, stated that this milestone is crucial for reducing India's reliance on imported copper and strengthening the nation's role in the global copper supply chain. He highlighted that Kutch Copper's world-class infrastructure and ESG standards make this recognition timely and well-deserved, enhancing the global acceptance of Adani Copper and advancing India's self-reliance in refined copper. The Kutch Copper facility, one of the world's largest single-location custom copper smelters with a capacity of 0.5 million tonnes per annum, is designed with state-of-the-art technology and sustainability principles. The USD 1.2 billion investment in this facility aims to strengthen domestic supply, reduce import dependence, and support India's 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' initiatives, particularly in sectors like electrification and renewable energy.
