ABB India Limited has successfully completed a critical modernization program for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited's (BPCL) Vadinar-Bina Pipeline (VBPL). The 935 km pipeline, vital for India's energy security, supplies 7.80 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) to the Bina refinery.
The project involved upgrading the automation and monitoring systems with a complete ABB Ability™ SCADAvantage system modernization. This included replacing 35 Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) at various stations and installing new SCADA servers at Vadinar and Bina. Additionally, ABB strengthened the pipeline's network security and resilience through deployment of cybersecurity solutions, system hardening, and centralized monitoring.
